We believe that net-positive business is the future, so we are laying out our road map today.
For all of the frustration and suffering brought on by the Coronavirus pandemic, we have been fortunate enough to experience plenty of silver linings. Since March we have made our first sale, been able to donate a boatload of supplies to our community, and supported local businesses along the way. However, what has been the biggest blessing for us is having the time to take a deep breath. We have utilized this opportunity to reflect on our values, and set goals for our future.
The question we keep asking ourselves is, what kind of ‘new normal’ do we want to come back to? The answer is that we want a normal where a socially responsible company is a successful company. As a result, we are beyond excited to share our vision for a net-positive future.
What does it mean to be net-positive?
Simply put, being a net-positive business means putting more back into the system (society, environment, global economy) than you take out. Companies around the globe are recognizing the benefits of going above and beyond simply mitigating their negative impacts. Not only will this business model have a positive impact on society and the environment, but net positivity will incentivize innovation and can boost sales. People vote every day with their wallets, and we believe that being net-positive is not only good for our world but good for business too. Learn more about the Net Positive Project.
Imagine what the world would look like if every company were to take this approach?
How do we plan to get there?
There is no sugar coating it, e-commerce is both carbon and waste intensive. We want to change that by building a net-zero supply chain. Our goal is for the sourcing, manufacturing and delivery of our products to have no negative impact on the environment. We aim to achieve this by utilizing sustainable materials, purchasing credits to offset carbon emissions, and utilizing biodegradable and recycled shipping materials.
If this pandemic has shown us anything, it’s that people are not paid what they are worth, while people at the top are making fistfuls of cash. This is not sustainable and we want to change that. As a company, it is our goal to ensure every single person involved in our supply chain is compensated fairly. Whether it’s a For Good employee or a seamstress at a factory in Mexico, we will always fight for fair wages.
It’s why we’re here. We are addicted to the way the mountains make us feel, and we want to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to feel on top of the world. For every item we sell, we will donate a portion of revenue to organizations that help underserved populations thrive. We will be focusing on education, mental health, and of course- outdoor recreation.
